I just saw an amazing, wonderful video.
A soldier serving in Afghanistan, SPC Channing Moss, was wounded by a rocket grenade—the kind that is shot through a bazooka-like weapon by the enemy—and instead of exploding it punched into his abdomen and thigh. Here he was, wounded in a terrible way, knowing that what was inside his body could explode at any minute—and the only way he was going to live to return to his wife and daughter was if other people showed extreme courage in helping him! In the video, you can see part of the heroic operation that saved his life, and meet the actual people who volunteered to do it—Maj John Oh, USA, MD whose ER team and helicopter medevac crew—and you see parts of the heroic operation as they freed him from the danger! You’ll love the video, offered at the site of the Military Times Network, which provides “members of the U.S. Military and their families with independent, award-winning journalism that impacts their lives.” In an article, “Do or Die”, Gina Cavallaro describes in detail what happened that day.
Now, I learned about this video from Frank Buzzard, a Vietnam helicopter veteran who later worked for NASA in important aspects of the Shuttle Program. He read about it in an email from a friend, and then a couple of weeks later the video came out. That’s the best kind of networking, using email and video links on the Internet to find the truth and get it out to people. It’s also why blogging is so important, because important stories and videos can be mentioned and linked to so that new people will come into contact with it, and others will be reminded.
When Frank mentioned the story to his son, Cpt Aaron K. Buzzard, US Army, MD, who is an ER doc and flight surgeon, it turned out that his son knows and has worked with the surgeon in the video, Maj. John Oh. Aaron deploys to Iraq in two weeks, and Frank and his wife Jane are extremely proud that he is going to add his skill and courage to the medical teams that are producing miracles on a daily basis.
Frank points out some additional facts about the event in the video:
1. The medivac pilots and crew are NOT allowed to transport wounded soldiers with live ordinance in their bodies. Why risk 5 crew to save one? They voted—unanimously—and flew SPC Moss to the evac hospital—RIGHT NOW. 2. Evac Hospital is not allowed to accept patients with live ordinance in their bodies. They rolled him into the ER—RIGHT NOW. 3. ER docs and Surgeons and staff are NOT allowed to work on wounded with live ordinance in their bodies. Screw that, they went to work—RIGHT NOW. 4. EOD (explosive ordinance) specialists don't work in ER's. Hell with that. SFC Daniel Brown runs to the ER when called and lends a hand.
This is a great video! And you know what? We all should have seen at least parts of this video in the media—a dramatic true story about a gallant soldier in an emergency, live ordnance threatening him and those who respond and save his life. It’s got everything, even a loving family waiting at home for their hero to return.
But the media is silent and unmoved.
And Frank is angry:
. . . do you see the heartfelt emotion in this video—that marks your soul for the rest of your life emotion—of SPC Channing Moss, Dr. John Oh, SFC Dan Brown? Have you seen this moving and REAL LIFE story on any American TV channel? I ask you why do you see hours of news of Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, Anna Nicole Smith, Tom Cruise...on and on? Are they important? Who are America's real heroes? Who is protecting our nation and our way of life? Who would we like our descendants to emulate? I beg you to think about the answers to these questions...They are important to us and the future of our nation and our freedoms. I have my answers, but you need to have your own answers....think about this....and act accordingly. Turn off the TV and not going to movies occurs to me.
Frank and Jane know that their son will show “the same courage and professional commitment that this team of American heroes did—to save their fellow soldier.” Frank writes that they are thankful for it, and are proud “that this spirit is the real soul of America...and that these are the real America heroes...in spite of the media drivel that you are bombarded with. And in spite of the Congressional leadership that we suffer with.”
And I, too, am angry. If it was up to the Main Stream Media, I would never have seen this video; more, I would never have even heard of it. And yet, the heroes in it are risking their lives to keep America free, to ensure among other things the Freedoms of Speech and of the Press, Media essentials. It doesn’t matter, of course. These heroes won’t be mentioned in the Main Stream Media, which doesn’t want to talk about heroes doing anything that might disagree with the MSM politics. The strange thing about the MSM is that it has grown so blatant. It no longer even tries to hide its bias, but it will not admit that it is Leftist. In it you will find no stories of the personal courage and decency of the Military. It prints and reports lies, distortions, faked photographs, exaggerated misdeeds, and it ignores the true nobility and decency of those who serve in the American Military.
What gulfs there are between those who are deliberately keeping these stories from the Main Stream Media and those who are honoring America by serving it!
We need to send this information to everyone we know. As many people as possible should recognize the caliber of people we have in the military. Watching that wonderful man, the wounded soldier, Channing Moss, at home with his wife and, now, two daughters, watching what others did for him so he could be there, is exhilarating and inspiring and glorious!
The Left is always talking about sacrifice and altruism, yet they insult the Military at every chance. They ignore the fact that members of the military deliberately, altruistically, risk their life, day in and day out, in extremely dangerous circumstances, far from home. Those in the Military know that the fulfillment of their mission will cost lives, perhaps their own. But for too many on the Left, who are always calling for sacrifice, the nature of “sacrifice” is in making laws that force people to give up their money so that the Left can spend it on projects the Left wants to pay for.
Those of us who know and admire the U.S. Military know that for it, sacrifice defines the fabric of their daily lives.
Frank Buzzard ends his email with a truth that has walked with humanity through the ages:
A final thought: John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.
Amen.

Thanks for sharing the video.
Good observation at the end of your post - the Left exhorts OTHERS to sacrifice, a la Hillary's "we're going to have to take things from some people". Never self-sacrifice, always someone else. Another bit of evidence of the childish, selfish, immaturity of leftism. Morally and intellectually.
Psychologists note that regardless of years on planet earth, humans are found at various stages of maturational development.
I'd argue that if a study were done, lefties would be found in statistically significant numbers to be stunted in their development and to be in more childish stages of development.
Time to change the metric that determines when we're qualified to vote? Just a thought.
